ISALIE DEBUT EARNS HER 17 POINTS AND DRAGONS 13TH WIN

Bradford Dragons Women’s Basketball travelled across Yorkshire with new signing Isalie Bloeman making her debut helping Dragons earn a 32 - 101 win in the Leeds & District Basketball League on Sunday 29th January versus Bishop Burton College Ladies.

Isalie had recently moved from Belgium [playing for Runkster Dames in the 2de Landelijk] to study at Bradford College and play for Dragons for the remaining 2011/12 season.

A Dragons win was expected following Bishop Burton College suffering from several big defeats this season and regardless of missing several key players, Dragons depth shone brightly through with all players adding to the scorebook including Isalie top scoring for Dragons with 17 points plus Charline Poirson (14 points) and Claudia Caramidaru (12 points) scoring season highs!

Bishop Burton College’s 5 players worked hard throughout the game with 17 year old Rachel Dixon (#4) making 28 or her team’s 32 points, including several long range shots, but Dragons tough team defence and quick transition racked up the points taking the each quarter on a 04 – 22, 07 – 26, 04 – 22 & 17 – 31 respective split.

At times Dragons poor passing decisions and missing initial shots gave Bishop Burton College the chance to get back into the game but in quickly stealing the ball back and dominating the rebounding at both ends of the court resulted in Dana Kima scoring the final basket of the game at 32 – 101!

BDWB Scorers = Isalie Bloeman (17 – FTs 1 of 1) Dana Kima (16), Rachel Tunnacliffe (16), Charline Poirson (14 – FTs 2 of 2), Claudia Caramidaru (12), Aleksandra Mazjakina (11 – FTs 1 of 1), Esther Nabikolo (7 – FTs 1 of 1), Jane Kirton (4 – FTs 2 of 2) & Laura Moloney (4 – FTs 0 of 2).

Coach Gunn commented, “Bishop Burton College [led by Coach Adrian Kennedy] are also in their inaugural season and although yet to pick up a win this season are improving game by game with an excellent facility in the East Riding of Yorkshire.  With a several young players with a lot of potential I am sure they will earn a much deserved win as the season progresses.”
