Bradford Dragons 65 - Tees Valley Mohawks 64
In what proved to be a 'nip & tuck' affair for most of the competition the Bradford Dragons held on to win their second National Trophy game, the first at home in front of a loyal and rowdy home crowd.
Alex Abela in his first outing for the roaring Dragons scored 14 points including two big fifteen foot jump shots late in the game to fend off a late charge from the Mohawks. Abela was helped by 13 points from point guard Carl Pearson and a game high 27 points from American Dan Foley who also pulled down 13 rebounds. The Dragons were missing a number of players for tonight's game but said Head Coach, Chris Mellor, "we just played together for forty minutes, digging in when needed, putting together a run of defensive stops and continuing to just work hard as a team'. Dragons are back on court tomorrow evening for a M62 clash with the Huddersfield Heat. |
