The U16's first game of the season see them lose heavily to a well drilled Manchester Magic squad.
This was going to be a tough game from the outset as the Dragons welcomed Manchester Magic to The BBEC Den.
The game started balanced as both teams took time to find their feet, 3 minutes in Magic had settled in and the points started to pile on as the Dragons found it difficult to get in their rhythm.
Magic were always one step ahead of the Dragons causing turnover after turnover not allowing the Dragons many chances to muster up an effective offence. The Dragons looked to be relying on G Osobor for most of the 1st with the majority of play being driven his way. Not only did the Dragons find it hard to get to the basket, things became more difficult once O Bright had to sit out the rest of the game following a knee injury. The 1st quarter ended with the Dragons trailing 7 - 32.

Magic piled on the pressure as the 2nd got under way and they looked to deliver a decisive blow before half time. Dragons made mistakes in offence, at times struggling to get the ball over halfway before the referees call a 8 second violation. Dragons had to work hard in defence and saw some good work from M Noble, C Lovric & H Rhoades who got in a good block that got the Dragons bench going. Points in the 2nd for Dragons came from Osobor with 2 from outside the arc.
At the half it was 13 - 77 to Magic.
The 3rd & 4th saw little sign of the Dragons getting back into the game. Some good movement and shots put up by J Hollings, K Haidukovs & O Bain didn't pay off as the Dragons still struggled to convert. It was some nice footwork and persistence that got 2 quick baskets for D Hussain. With the clock running down the Dragons looked to end on a high with some good passes from R Seed & H Manson, unfortunately the better team Magic won on the day.
Final Score:
Dragons 35 Magic 139
