Bradford Dragons Basketball Club are pleased to announce the signing of 6’4” Spanish forward, Joaquín Calvo. Calvo, aged 20, is a product of the Gran Canaria Basketball Academy in Spain and following his graduation from the program he opted to further his basketball career in the United Kingdom. He made an immediate impact at Liverpool Basketball Club, during the 2015/16 season, winning the National Basketball League Division Two play-off final, whilst also being voted the clubs most improved player at their end of season awards. |

Dragons head coach, Chris Mellor, says of his latest acquisition, “I feel that Joaquín will fit in great with us. He’s a team-first guy, who understands the game very well. He can bring things at both ends of the court and his overall positivity and enthusiasm should benefit everyone.”
Calvo is in contention to make his Dragons debut this Sunday, in the National Trophy game against Team Northumbria, at Sports Central in Newcastle. Dragons supporters will then get their first opportunity to see Calvo in action in the Dragons Den, when they face Loughborough Student Riders, in their opening 2017/18 National Basketball League Division One fixture, on Saturday 7th October. Tip off for the game, at Bradford College Sports Hall, Trinity Road is at 6:15pm and advance tickets are available via the club website.
