Bradford Dragons Basketball Club are pleased to announce that Rafi Saipe has committed to a sixth season in the Dragons’ Den.

Following two seasons with his hometown club, Leeds Force, the 6’2” guard made the transition to Bradford for the start of the 2014/15 season. Despite spending the majority of that season on the bench, he has now firmly established himself as a regular starter for Chris Mellor’s side, combining tenacious defending with a sharp eye for the basket.
Statistically, last season was Saipe’s best yet, averaging 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game and he will be looking to better that again this time around.

“It’s great to be back at the Dragons for another season,” Saipe remarked. “I feel like we are always building here, and we are once more adding some great new players to our squad. I’m confident that with our players and coaching staff we can win some silverware this year.

”Coach Mellor is delighted to have secured Saipe’s services for another season, stating, “Rafi has a lot of experience at this level now and he’s a really important player for us, because of what he brings at both ends of the court.

“He’s been unfortunate the last couple of seasons with injuries, but he’s come back in good shape preseason and because he’s still young and very motivated I think he will continue to mature as a player and make further improvements.”
