Fixture Changes

30/11/2017

Please note that, due to some teams still being involved in the National Cup and National Trophy competitions, we have had to rearrange some of our forthcoming fixtures.

SATURDAY 9th DECEMBER 2017, 6:15pm.
Firstly, our fixture against Manchester Magic, originally scheduled for 9th December has been postponed. We will now play Reading Rockets, in the Dragons' Den, on this date instead, which has been pulled forward from the 17th February.
Please note that any tickets already purchased for the Manchester Magic game, will be honored for entry to the Reading Rockets fixture.

Bradford Dragons’ visited table topping Hemel Storm on Saturday evening and pulled off an amazing second-half comeback to take the win, 67-77. However, the following day, last seasons league and cup double winners, Team Northumbria, strolled into the Dragons’ Den and left with the points following a convincing 59-87 victory.
At the start of play, Hemel were sitting proudly at the very top of the National Basketball League first division with a record of six wins from seven games, whilst Bradford were languishing, just outside of the play-off berths, with two wins from five games. To add to Bradford’s problems, Rafi Saipe (sponsored by Made4Fighters), who has been in inspired form this season, was unavailable due to sickness.

The first score of the game went in the Dragons’ favour, with Oliver Hylands sinking his jump shot, for two points. But, it wasn’t long before the hosts struck back and got themselves ahead through a Tom Adorian free throw, followed up with a brace of three-pointers from AJ Roberts and although Bradford managed to tie the scores, they were unable to stop the Storm from pulling back ahead. With eight minutes played the home side were nine points clear (19-10). However, a couple of lay-ups from the Dragons’ big American, Ricky Fetske, limited the damage to only five points at the end of the first period (19-14).

Bradford Dragons check-mated by Knights.

20/11/2017

Bradford Dragons supporters could not believe their eyes on Saturday evening, as their team threw away a first quarter, twenty-point lead against Newcastle University Knights, eventually losing the game 75-77. The following afternoon, the Dragons travelled to Loughborough Student Riders, for their National Cup Quarter Final fixture, however, they failed to make the final four, as their hosts secured their semi-final spot with a dramatic last minute victory, 79-76.

Newcastle, who are newcomers to the top flight, have struggled to find their form so far this season, arriving in the Dragons’ Den with only one win from their opening eight league fixtures, having only beaten bottom of the table side, Lancashire Spinners. Their only other victory had come in the National Trophy, against none other than the Dragons, when they pulled off a hard fought 73-70 victory in the Dragons’ Den.

Bradford were determined to put records straight and came out of the starting blocks with clear purpose. The opening quarter was a totally one-sided affair, with the Dragons scoring almost at will, defending with great tenacity and picking up almost every loose ball and rebound. In fact, you could almost be forgiven for assuming that it was game over at the end of that opening period as the Dragons were in total control, with a commanding twenty-point lead (30-10).

Dragons are blasted off court by Rockets

13/11/2017

Bradford Dragons made the long journey down to Reading Rockets on Sunday afternoon, for their latest National Basketball League division one fixture, but came home empty handed, following a disappointing 95-74 defeat.

The Rockets are one of the longest established teams in the division, and have won an impressive amount of silverware over the years - including three league and four play-off championships, as well as being three times National Cup and five times National Trophy winners. Going into the game they had a win record of three from four, for this season, and were sitting nicely within the early season leading pack.

Meanwhile, Bradford had a win ratio of two from three, playing one game less, having enjoyed the previous weekend off, following London Lituanica’s decision to withdraw from the league.
