Bradford Dragons travelled to Leicester Warriors on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 63-81 victory to finish 2014 off on a high note. With club captain Vance Silcott returning from international duty in Montserrat, head coach Chris Mellor had the unusual luxury of picking from a full squad. But, with a record of only two wins from nine so far this season, the Dragons knew that they could ill afford to finish the year off with another defeat. |
Bolstered by the additions of American centre, Chris McGrew and British point guard, Nathan Ashley, who both re-joined the club last week, the Dragons ousted their southern rivals to come away with a well-deserved and long-overdue 59-77 victory.
The Neptunes took the initial quarter, going into the first break with a three point lead, at 22-19. But the travelling Dragons took control of the game in the second period, restricting their hosts to only 10 points, and sending them back to the locker room facing a five point deficit (32-37).
The winning ticket was white number 23, which was purchased by Mr Eddie Burt, of Halifax. We truly hope that Mr Burt enjoys his prize and we look forward to formerly acknowledging his win at one of of our forthcoming home matches.
